Good nutrition is the foundation of healthy growth
Many parents feel lost about how to feed their children: when to start solids, what foods to give, how much is enough, how to handle picky eating. With my Master’s in Maternal & Child Nutrition (UNIN) plus my pediatric training, I give you practical and current guidance: age-specific menus for your child, appropriate portions, how to introduce new foods, managing common problems (child who doesn’t eat, only eats certain foods). The goal: your child grows healthy, develops good habits, and mealtimes aren’t battles.
Why nutritional consultation with Dr. Sandy?
Practical Approach - Real Menus that Work
Not just nutritional theory - I give you SPECIFIC menus with foods available in Guatemala, clear portions, realistic schedules. Simple recipes you can prepare. Adapted to your budget and family reality. Parents report: “Now I know exactly what to feed them”.
Solutions for Picky or Difficult Eaters
Proven techniques for children who eat little, are very selective (only accept 3-4 foods), or reject everything. Evidence-based strategies, without forcing or creating trauma. I’ve helped frustrated parents get their children to start accepting more variety.
Medical + Comprehensive Nutritional Evaluation
As pediatrician AND nutritionist, I assess if there are medical causes of feeding problems (reflux, allergies, anemia). Not just menus - I identify and solve underlying problems affecting feeding.
Prevention of Obesity and Bad Habits
Guatemala has high childhood obesity prevalence. I teach you to create healthy habits FROM YOUNG AGE that prevent future overweight: appropriate portions, avoid excess sugar/ultra-processed foods, regular schedules, healthy relationship with food.

What does Nutritional Consultation include?
Complete evaluation and personalized plan for your child’s feeding.
Complete Dietary History
I ask you in detail about your child’s current feeding: what foods they eat (and which they reject), amounts, schedules, who prepares food, where they eat (home, daycare), meal routine, screen use during meals. Also medical history: allergies, illnesses, medications.
Growth Assessment
Current weight and height. Comparison with WHO growth charts to determine percentiles. Body mass index (BMI) calculation if older. Review of weight/height progression in record card (bring control card). I identify if there’s malnutrition, overweight, or appropriate growth.
Nutritional Requirements Calculation
I calculate how many calories, proteins, and other nutrients your child needs according to age, weight, and activity level. I compare with what they’re currently eating (dietary record). I identify deficits or excesses.
Personalized Nutrition Plan
Weekly menu specific for your child: breakfast, lunch, dinner, 2 snacks. With foods available in Guatemala and your budget. Clear portions. Simple recipes. Substitution options. Shopping list. Recommended schedules. Strategies for specific problems (pickiness, low weight, etc.).
Follow-up and Adjustments
Follow-up appointment in 4-6 weeks to assess progress: weight change, plan adherence, difficulties. I adjust plan according to results. Follow-up until achieving goal (adequate weight, established habits). Available via WhatsApp for questions during implementation.
